The location on sea front, and area for Canterbury etc, good towels, hot water, clean comfortable bed, good breakfast , hot plates for breakfast time, when spoken too the manager helpful ,as were the reception staff

Vrey poor to disgraceful staff in restuaurant took 25mins to relay 1 table for 8 people sat down to fold napkin sitting down anyway , totally disinterested in clients , no matrade, evening meals expensive same menu for the 3 nights of stay, had to prebook table as had 2 coach party's in so had to wait till they had gone 1st sitting offered was 7 - 30 dirty armchair in room, room bore no resemblance to the website picture Hotel over priced as undergoing refurbishment may have helped if had mentioned that on website drinks expensive

Very comfortable, nice size rooms. Good facilities at the hotel (lovely pool, jacuzzi, spa, gym, table tennis, snooker, tennis, golf, even a squash court!). Very nice buffet breakfast. Helpful staff. No complaints at all

I didn't like anything about this hotel, our room was small and stuffy, windows were so dirty you could hardly see though them. Gaps around the door were so large the hall lights illuminated the room all night, the smoke alarm was placed directly over the bed bathing the bed in flashes of red light. Spare pillows where old and useless and didn't even have pillow slips on. The restaurant food was "ok" but the staff although pleasant would benefit from some training as could the barman who didn't know how to make the cocktails on the specials cocktail menu and didn't have the ingredients anyway! The floor Lino on the bar top was a little strange. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and at £150 per night without breakfast it is hugely over priced and does not represent value or quality.

I liked the close access to the beach and the short distance to dover as it only took about 25 min to arrive at the ferry docks.

The Hotel was undergoing refurbishment, but it hardly interfered with my stay. However, most staff was unfriendly and the food in the restaurant was not exactly as you would expect it in a hotel-spa restaurant. The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and the adjacent sunny terrace were all welcoming. However, if you went there just for the spa, the facilities were rather run-down and of older standard than you would expect for a 4 star hotel.

We found our room to be very spacious and light and the facilities were fine.

    • Older travelers

The Hotel had a Spa, steam bath, sauna, jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool and gym perfect for relaxing which we took advantage of. Our room had a view of the sea which was nice.

The hotel was having a face lift outside (scaffolding is not very impressive).

Reception staff, particularly Mr. Neil Lomas, were extremely welcoming and helpful.

Parking hard to come by. Room was small and very shabby. TV set produced awful picture. Badly in need of professional repair. Headboard to bed was greasy and dirty. Had to place another pillow over some of the grease to protect my head from direct contact. Bed was far too small and was on its last legs. Should be sent to the tip immediately. Some lamps were hanging off the wall. We had received confirmation of a twin room but instead on arrival found we had a double bed in bad shape and past its sellby date. Worse still was the appalling din from the disco which meant that it was utterly impossible to sleep until after midnight. I complained to Neil, who spoke to the DJ, but the noise kept us, very tired travellers, awake, until the disco finished.

Looked a bit shappy from the outside as under renovation

      Scaffolding up around all windows

    • Older travelers

A friendly place to relax in with splendid view over the sea and enjoyable walks in the surrounds.

      Good value.

Echo other peoples comments regarding the air of fading glory. I realise adjustable heating, replacment curtains, carpets and other noticable defects would take a great deal of money, but if you keep on top of this as best you can and stay very competative you will maintain a decent trade. Your location is obviously key and I hope you will keep going, its great to see the old UK beach front hotels continuing.

The relaxation of the hotel, myself and my boyfriend stayed there for a birthday present I would definatley stay there again.

No bad points but as we came with another couple and were seperated via different floors.
